Military Spouse Appreciation Day Blog Hop: Welcome to Overseas Adventures

In honor of yesterday’s Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Household 6 Diva and Riding the Roller Coaster are hosting a Blog Hop. Bloggers create a ‘party post’ to introduce themselves and their blog as sort of a virtual meet and greet. If you’d like to participate, head on over to either of their blogs by Sunday for instructions. Even if you don’t want to add your blog, check it out if you’re looking for new blogs to read. With over 150 blogs to choose from, there is sure to be something for everyone.

Now, on to my introduction post: For those who don’t already know me, my name is Amanda. My husband, Tim, is a medic in the army, and we are currently stationed in Germany. He got the orders to come here two months after we were married, which happened to be the month after I had moved from FL up to GA. Three months from that, we were here with our two dogs Gir and Apollo and ready for the adventures awaiting us.

We’ve been here about six months now and been married almost a year, and it’s crazy how fast the time has gone. In fact, I haven’t quite been able to keep up with it. When I thought of this blog, I originally planned to start it once we got to Germany. But, the moving process was so involved that I decided to include posts about the moving process as well. Due to writing and adding those, getting settled here, exploring our new city, and so on, I started a little behind present events and I still am. Hopefully that doesn’t take away from anyone’s enjoyment in reading about them. I do plan to catch up in the near-ish future.

I know people sometimes like to put faces to names, so here are a few pictures:

This is me before my wedding.

My husband doesn’t generally like me to put pictures of him on my blog, but he approved this one of us during our wedding ceremony for a previous post so this is the best I can do for now.

This is our Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Gir. I had her for a couple years before I met my husband. She’s a little plumper now because Tim’s been spoiling her too much.

This is our Miniature Pinscher, Apollo, curled up on a laundry pile. We got him a couple days after we got married.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you’ll continue to join me on my Overseas Adventures. Feel free to share your thoughts and own experiences in the comments.

  1. Hi Amanda!

Thank you for stopping by my blog today!
Happy Military Spouse Appreciation Day to you!

I bet you are having quite an adventure over there! My husband and I have been trying to get out of Fort Campbell for nearly a year and Germany is definitely on our list of overseas bases that we’d like to be. I’m a huge history lover, so I would love the opportunity to explore western Europe! How exciting!

It’s very nice to meet you!

    • Hi Brea! Thanks for stopping by mine also, and Happy Military Spouse Appreciation Day to you as well. We are definitely having an adventure here. Germany was actually a total surprise to us, but we couldn’t have asked for better luck in the placement. Hope you get the opportunity to come here as well ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s nice to meet you too.

  2. glad i’m not the only person crazy about their dogs ๐Ÿ™‚ btw, your dogs are beautiful!
i love Germany! Hubby was stationed there for a little over a year and I would visit him often…love it!

thanks for stopping by and happy milspouse day ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Definitely not. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you. Yours is also (I stopped by your me page to see if there was a pic). She looks very distinguished in that photo. From that page, we share in common that I like sweat pants, traveling, and reading and don’t like coffee (but will drink tea). Cool, where what part was he stationed in? I love it so far as well, although we have only seen a few cities aside from our own. Thanks for stopping by here as well and happy milspouse day to you too ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and commenting!
I hope you are having a great weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. What a great idea this appreciation day is! Happy Military Spouse Appreciation Day to you, Amanda!

I totally understand why your husband does not want to by on this blog. I seldomly post a picture of my boyfriend on my blog and if I do, he is with a random group of people. I really strive to differentiate between writing about facts and including my private life. My friends, however, have been on my blog more than once…

Hope you have a good Sunday and look forward to hearing from you soon again! Cheers from Nueva York. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah I usually only mention my husband in passing. He said he doesn’t mind if I write about him, but if I have doubt I usually clear what I’m posting with him first.

      Thanks. You too. Cheers.:)

  5. Germany looks beautiful! My husband lived there for a few years growing up when his dad was stationed there for the Airforce. I have never been there. Looks like a place to add to the list!

  6. Happy {belated} MilSpouse Appreciation Day! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m looking forward to reading more of your adventures!

  7. Hey Amanda, Thanks for stopping by the blog! I hope our moving process gets better, or gets over.lol. You have such great pictures. I always see such pretty photos of Germany! I hope I live in a place half as beautiful and that I get to see Germany while I’m there!

    • Hi Katie. Thanks for stopping by mine as well. I hope it gets better for you also. Ours was a mess a lot of the way but it all pulled together. Thanks. Germany is really pretty. The pics are actually from the Old City area. We live a few miles from that in one of the villages on post. It’s still really nice though. I hope you get a good place as well. I definitely recommend trying to get to Germany. There are a lot of cool things to see. We’re planning on trying to get to England at some point while we’re here also.

  8. Beautiful photos and cute doggies. Wow 6 months already. Time does really fly!

Thanks for stopping by my blog on your hopping! I look forward to reading how your overseas adventures are going compared to mine ๐Ÿ™‚ Germany seems awesome!

  10. Thanks for visiting my blog! I’ve always heard great things about Germany and will be taking some of it in through your blog! Awesome! =)

  11. I am so jealous! My husband is there for the moment and the pictures he has sent me make me want to visit! what a beautiful country! my little brother used to live in black forest and he has the best stories of the country. i hope you enjoy your time there and i can’t wait to see more photos! <3

    • It is beautiful. Hope you get to visit sometime. That’s cool. I haven’t been to the black forest area yet. Thanks. I shall :). One of these days I might get around to adding albums to Photobucket or something so I can link to them in my posts. Sometimes I feel bad only sharing a few, but as a fellow blogger pointed out once doing it this way does at least force me to pick the few I think will be the best representation.

  12. Love the idea of updating on your move even though it is a bit behind! ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh and awesome name too!!! This is me just stopping by from my blog to say hi back! Have a fabulous Tuesday!

    • Thanks on all counts ๐Ÿ™‚ Tuesday was pretty good. Mostly spent it watching Prison Break, working on blog posts, and doing laundry (which is only included in it being good because our old washer broke and the new one just got delivered–otherwise I wouldn’t be this excited over it). Hope yours is/was great as well :-).

  13. Your dogs are so adorable, Amanda!

      • I would love to have a Welsh Corgi too. ๐Ÿ™‚

        • They are awesome. If you ever get a chance to get one I recommend it. She’s one of the happiest dogs. And she “talks” which I find hilarious. Like she’ll make these noises that sound like laughing when we rub her belly. And if we make howling noises like “ah aaa ooo” to her, she will do them back to us.

          • yeah, I have read so much about Corgis and they must be such great dogs, really smart and they love their humans. It is so funny that she talks. ๐Ÿ™‚ I would love to hear that. She sounds adorable!

          • She is pretty smart and very loyal. If it weren’t law to leash her I wouldn’t need to because she follows me everywhere. Now that I’m with Tim she kind of divides her time. If we’re in separate rooms she usually lays between them or follows me. I emailed you the link to see the video.

          • The video is so adorable! She sounds and looks like the perfect dog!

          • Thanks. She is most of the time lol

  14. Hi Amanda! Thanks for stopping by my blog during the hopโ€”sorry it took me so long to get over hereโ€ฆbetter late than never, though! It looks like you’re settling into Germany pretty well! What an adjustment to get married, move, and then move overseas all within a few months! Europe is definitely an exciting place to be ๐Ÿ™‚
