Funny You Should Reach Me…10 Interesting Search Phrases for My 100th Post

Hello readers! I know it’s been quiet on this blog for longer than usual. After my last post, I had final exams and papers which required attention, and then I needed a little breather. I’m happy to announce that I emerged on the other side with a 4.0. Now, I plan to get back to blogging more regularly. It’s interesting to me that blog views kept going steadily even in my absence. Just yesterday, there were 100 views before I drafted this post. Thanks for coming by to read!

Today marks my 100th post to Overseas Adventures. For my blogiversary, I shared the most popular search terms that lead people to my blog. Today, I thought it might be fun to share some of the search terms that, while not necessarily popular, I found interesting in some way. Here are ten, in the order I saw them:

weird asian women wearing dog collars

I’m not sure what is more surprising, that someone reached my blog with this search, or that this phrase was searched seven times. The only time I posted someone described as Asian was in my first German culture class post where the original file describes the girl shushing as Asian. But she is wearing headphones, not a dog collar. The reason the picture (left) was posted was because I was talking about the Ruhezeit (Quiet Time) in Germany.

girl foot close up

Photobucket

This blog isn’t about foot fetishes, so I was surprised this would come up, especially seven times. I remembered I had used a picture for Photo a Day in June of a close-up of a mani-pedi (right), which is the only thing I could think of being related to that search.

how did I met my husband

Yes, it was searched as “met” rather than “meet,” and the phrase came up three times. As I mentioned before, over 50 people have gotten here with some version of “how I met my husband,” but this was kind of a different twist. If you arrived looking for the story of how I met my husband (left), you may like this post. On the off chance you’re actually looking for how you met your husband, I can’t help, but I hope if someone has written about it, it’s a good story.

the cutest min pin in the world

This is another one that came up three times. Of course, I’m biased, but I think the cutest Miniature Pinscher in the world is my Apollo (right). If you agree, you may like the fact that he appears regularly in the blog. I try to remember to tag all the posts that talk about him and/or Gir (my Pembroke Welsh Corgi who I also think is cute) with pets. His most frequent appearances were in the Photo a Day posts, and for the week of August 27th-31st he was in every picture.

Funny comments I shot my first turkey

I’ve never shot a turkey and don’t plan to, so I don’t have any funny comments about it.  I did write about cooking my first turkey here. I don’t think there’s much funny in there. But there is a link to the recipe I used…and a German word that could be used to describe the inside of a turkey: Pfui.

shampoo made in europe that is over $60

I’m not sure why two people would want to spend $60 on shampoo, or why they would reach my blog searching for it. When I want to spoil myself, I buy something that’s going to last longer than shampoo. Even then, most of the things I buy are second-hand, on sale, or with a discount. I did write about shampoo in a German culture class post and in a post on German products. But both times the one I mentioned using was the one at right which was €3 (a little under $4) for a two pack.

wet willies chocolate thunder recipe

Unfortunately I don’t know the recipe for Wet Willie’s Chocolate Thunder (left), which I wrote about here. I did find a recipe with Kettle One, Frangelica, and Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, but I haven’t tried it. If anyone knows how to make a close approximation, let me know.

my husband rushed me to the bedroom

Two people searched this, and I’m really not sure how they reached me. The only times I’ve mentioned the bedroom on this blog have been in passing, like this post where I mentioned the sunrise from the bedroom window the day we got our unaccompanied baggage (right), which is far from this search phrase. You’re unlikely to ever find anything related to this search phrase here. Sorry if that disappoints any readers, but it will probably be a relief to some of the ones who know me in real life.

dog humping finger

R2D2 Dog Hump, Fitzroy, MelbourneI hope this was a “how do I stop…” rather than “I want to see…” search, but even then, that’s a new one by me. The only reason I can think of why someone would reach my blog with that is because I posted the picture I’d found (left) which the creator titled R2D2 Dog Hump on this post.

sad neutered dog in cone

Sad DogI hope the reason for this search was more along the lines of why I looked for a picture of a dog in a cone (though I wasn’t that specific), rather than wanting to see a dog be sad. I used the picture on the right in the same post as I mentioned above, because I hadn’t taken a picture of my own dog in his cone.

That’s all for the interesting search terms for now. I’m sure I will find more before I hit the next hundred posts. Next time, I’ll be back with a post about visiting Schloss Schwetzingen.

  1. Haha, this made me laugh so much! It is funny to see how people find your blog! 🙂
And yay for finishing your exams!

  2. congrats on your exams from me, too!
Yeah, those search terms are weird… I mean, I know where you are getting at because I myself have one of the most abstract search terms. I was amused about the husband rushing you to your bedroom thing. And the Asian wearing the dog collar… Hello!
